Biography

Ray has worked in wood most of his life, it was his best subject at school. During his working life it was his prime hobby. Once retired he started turning wood and has taken a few courses in turning, but is mainly self taught. He draws his inspiration from items seen, whether it be pottery or ceramics, or other wooden articles. Sometimes a form is suggested by a piece of wood itself. He works in contrasting wood colours and has in recent years developed designs from segments. His most rewarding pieces are Vases made from segments, using grain and colours to highlight his designs.
