Artist's Statement

I often start work as if on a search for something...looking for the essence of It, using feelings, thoughts, and imagination, and it all becomes the process. And, sometimes I begin with an idea and it will change as I paint; and during the process the piece will take on it's own identity. Many times the essence eludes me but it's a joy when it all comes together and I can look at the piece and know that it's done. I like the discovery element when I paint; and there's diversity with acrylics that suit my way of painting. My work leans towards abstraction with some reference to personal symbolism.
