  Theatre Inconnu presents

The Butcher's Apron by Charles Tidler

Must great art be born out of suffering? Tidler re-invents the historical figures of August Strindberg, and Edvard Munch, as they bask together in their angst; anticipating their next glorious contributions to the credits of mankind. Tidler has created hysterically funny - yet poignant - portraits of these artists. Theatre Inconnu has a 20-year history of unique production in Victoria. This play, written by one of Canada’s most significant playwrights, extends that tradition.

About Theatre Inconnu:

Theatre Inconnu has the distinction of being Victoria's longest regular producing small alternative theatre company. The troupe has been producing regular seasons of theatre in Victoria since 1987. Standing ovations and sell-out crowds are common occurrences, as the company continues to offer some of the most exciting theatre in town.

Theatre Inconnu's mandate has always been to produce quality plays in an intimate atmosphere; offering audiences a wide selection from the world theatre repertoire. During the past two decades, we have produced over 70 plays, ranging from the ancient Greeks to world premieres of both international and Canadian plays (and everything in between).

Theatre Inconnu is committed to maintaining a close performer/audience relationship, preferring to work in smaller venues to enhance the immediacy of the live theatrical experience. And we are also committed to keeping admission prices affordable, so that everyone can attend. Not only critically acclaimed locally, our productions have been lauded on tour: throughout Canada, the US, and into Europe and Mexico.
