La Piola means roughly a ‘gathering place’ in Piemontese dialect (Piemonte is a region in Northern Italy). It would
typically be a place where people talk and play games while they enjoy food and drink, so the atmosphere would be casual. Our La Piola achieves this by having a specialty deli mercato and a small, intimate, casual dining room
which houses professional artworks for sale; features evening entertainment by professional musicians and, of course, authentic Italian food and drinks.
Alberto is a member of the Island Chef's Collaborative, a group of chefs dedicated to sustainable eating and therefore, our menu is based on what is available organically, locally and seasonally.
Sample of the professional musicians we stage:
John MacArthur & Take Two/Take Three jazz.
John brings in musicians such as Don Cox, Alfons Fear, Kal Wood,
Miranda Sage, and Rebecca Everett.
Cold Cut Combo: Aaron Watson & Chris Sartisohn are a jazz duo who play accordion & guitar for a gypsy swing & Musette feel.
Oliver Swain Trio - Oliver is a Juno nominated double bass player and his back up guitarists join him to play Parisian jazz.
Brad Prevedoros is an award winning classical guitarist from Galiano Island.
Sunyata - Ken Hall & Jim Gawne play Latin/North African jazz fusion.
