CAF 2007 SPONSOR INVITATION

Introduction

Presented by Heaven-on-Earth Marketing and Image Management Company and in conjunction with a broad range of support from the business community, Capital Arts Festival 2007 (CAF 2007) aims to promote and create public awareness and appreciation of Canadian arts, culture and heritage throughout the Capital Regional District.

Administered and produced exclusively as a business organized initiative, CAF 2007 is distinct from any other event of its kind in this region. Comprising a diverse array of member participants, and with the inclusion of both traditional and non-traditional venues, this festival brings together practicing professional artists from all arts disciplines as a whole, unified group - accomplished without government funding and without non-profit/charitable involvement at the operational level.

"In developing a regional, cultural festival, our goal is to showcase and promote practicing professional artists encompassing all arts disciplines. CAF 2006, a pilot festival and market survey for CAF 2007, determined that the time has come for the business community to come forward in establishing and organizing a professional calibre event that unifies practicing professional artists, strengthens the professional arts community, benefits local businesses, and benefits our citizens and visitors to this region," said Victoria businessman Rob Vickery, CAF Executive Director and festival founder.

Exclusive to practicing professional artists who live and work in the CRD, Capital Arts Festival 2007 in October will offer our citizens and visitors to this region a showcase of professional events - produced by our member participants - featuring dance, music, literary, performing and visual arts. For information about our venues, event dates, times and locations, click on to our Member Participants Showcase.

Practicing professional artists have attained a high level of development and achievement in their chosen fields of endeavour, and are recognized for their professionalism and accomplishments within their communities, by their peers and through their affiliations with professional member groups, societies, associations and numerous independent arts businesses.

A Selection of Statistics from Capital Arts Festival 2006

The enthusiasm and spirit of community support by members of the business community was outstanding! CAF 2006 was made possible by the support from 17 major sponsors, plus the additional support of more than 300 members of the business community throughout the CRD. During the two-week festival, our 11 venues saw an approximate attendance of 10,000 visitors. In the 22 months since the CAF website was published to the internet, approximately 238,936 visitors have visited our event website.

Our web statistics for the month of October, 2006 showed that there were approximately 33,000 visitors to our website; during the two-week festival (October 5-18), the daily visitor average was 1480! Outside the CRD and the rest of Canada, 39 domains (countries of origin) visited the event website - including Norway, Egypt, South Africa, Mexico and Japan.

20,000 color CAF 2006 Posters/Venue Guides were distributed throughout the CRD, and a printable PDF version of the same was published to the website - thereby significantly expanding our marketing platform. The event was advertised in several regional magazines and newspapers including: Preview, Boulevard, WHERE Victoria, Focus, Monday Magazine and Victoria News Group's Regional and Daily Newspapers.

Vision

In keeping with the achievements realized from last year's pilot and market survey, Capital Arts Festival 2007 continues to:
  • Develop and implement an alternative programming concept that is distinct to this region.
  • Establish a regional-based Canadian event - produced, administered and supported exclusively by members of the business community for the benefit of:
    • Practicing professional artists who live and work in the CRD and their affiliated professional member arts organizations and related arts interests.
    • Businesses and the many business communities throughout the CRD.
    • Our citizens and tourists who visit this region.
  • Provide free participation to our member participants.
  • Give our member participants the creative freedom to develop their own arts programming, and be in control of their own venues and ticket sales.
  • Pro-actively contribute and foster to the well-being of Canadian arts, culture and heritage in our region.

Conclusion

As the Capital Arts Festival enters its second year of production, we remain committed to building and developing strong business partnerships with members of the business community, within the CRD and elsewhere, who share the same creative vision as we do.

With over 30% of the regional population supporting the arts, CAF 2007 is of special interest and benefit to practicing professional artists, the professional arts community, local businesses throughout the CRD, and offers our citizens and visitors to this region a truly unique, Canadian cultural experience. Your business participation will help to make this goal a reality.

We gratefully acknowledge the generous support from the business community and all of our member participants who are helping to make this festival possible.
