As Event Owner and Producer for Capital Arts Festival 2008 ("CAF 08"), effective April 29, 2008, I am conveying the cancellation of our third season. The primary reasons for cancelling the event are presented below.
- Although there was significant interest and support by member participants based from the Capital Regional District ("CRD"), there was not enough interest and/or timely response from arts organizations and related arts interests from the Cowichan Valley Regional District ("CVRD") - before the submission deadline of May 31, 2008.
- Inability to provide prospective fundors with complete and specific details arising from all of our member participants' events - before the submission deadline of May 31, 2008. Some member participants did provide their event details - and we thank you for your timely help.
The planned business support of CAF 2008 was considerable, with approximately 200 businesses directly involved, and more than 1,000 businesses indirectly. My company's chief responsibility is to ensure that each and every interest is placed in the very best possible light. Since the mandate of CAF 2008 was not fulfilled to my company's complete satisfaction and confidence, event cancellation is the appropriate and sole recourse.
Even though this season's festival is now cancelled, we encourage you and the public-at-large to support the planned events by our former member participants. To view their event listings, click:

Yours very truly,
Rob Vickery
