Ensemble Pacifica
Please note: Ensemble Pacifica's October 28th concert has been cancelled. See below for November date, venue and ticket price.
The Ensemble Pacifica is a chamber ensemble comprised of wind, string, keyboard and percussion players dedicated to performing traditional and contemporary chamber repertoire of the highest quality to audiences on Vancouver Island. There is a wealth of quality chamber music, too seldom heard, that the Ensemble Pacifica wishes to present. Dr. Steven Capaldo, the Director of the Ensemble, was appointed to the University of Victoria's Music Education Faculty in 2004, and has an impressive record in conducting wind, orchestra and choral groups. He is also a gifted composer and arranger whose works have been commissioned and recorded by groups in Australia, the United States and Canada. "The Ensemble Pacifica has thoroughly enjoyed performing this music and we look forward to future performances drawing even larger audiences," said Capaldo.
"Like their conductor, every member of the Ensemble Pacifica flashes with a flair for theatre. Yet this is not a group of prima donnas... despite their highly defined, and refined, individual gifts, they dance perfectly in step one moment and another send up prayerful phrases in selfless unison, to the greater glory of chamber wind music. And glorious it was," from a recent review by Grant Hayter-Menzies.
Program includes Mozart's Serenade # 12 in C minor, K388 for Woodwind Octet and Dvorak's Serenade in D minor, Opus 44 for 9 Winds, Cello and Double Bass.
