Early Music Society of the Islands

The Early Music Society of the Islands is one of the leading North American presenters of musicians specialising in the historically informed performance of early music (from prior to 1800). EMSI's season includes the Victoria premiere of the French ensemble Ensemble Clément Janequin: The Art of the Chanson. Led by legendary countertenor Dominique Visse, this astonishing ensemble of five male voices and lute will bring to life the exciting sound world of the 16th Century French chanson - an extraordinary and utterly compelling repertoire. Nothing like this has ever been heard in Victoria. Click here for press release
