VICTORIA, B.C. (July 30, 2006) For two-weeks, starting October 5 and running to October 18, Capital Arts Festival 2006 is a celebration of Music, Dance, Theatre, Visual Arts and Literary Arts by practicing professional artists who live and work in the Greater Victoria Capital Regional District.
Capital Arts Festival 2006, produced exclusively by members of the business community and presented by Heaven-on-Earth Marketing and Image Management Company, aims to promote and create public awareness and appreciation of the arts, culture, and heritage in the GVCRD.
"In developing a regional, annual cultural festival, our goal is to showcase and promote practicing professional artists from all arts disciplines as a whole, unified group. With a large percentage of artists in Canada living in the GVCRD, the time has come to establish a professional caliber event—produced entirely by members of the business community—which unifies and strengthens the professional arts community and benefits local businesses in our region," said Rob Vickery, CAF Executive Director and festival founder.

"The enthusiasm and spirit of community support by members of the business community has been outstanding! With operational resources being provided through private business equity and sponsorships, Capital Arts Festival 2006 fulfilled an important goal of providing free participation to our members groups and venues," said Vickery.
The administrative and operational authority for this year’s event, known as the Capital Arts Festival (CAF), is at-arms-length to our member groups’ programming, thereby giving a unique approach to our event. The following analogy is presented to show how the administrative and operational authority operates. The relationship between CAF and our member groups is similar in scope to the way in which the federal and provincial governments operate within Canada: CAF is responsible for the administration, marketing and advertising strategic plan for the entire event (federal level); member groups are responsible for their own event programming, marketing and advertising (provincial level).
With over 30% of the regional population supporting the arts, culture and heritage in the GVCRD, Capital Arts Festival 2006 is proud to present to our citizens and tourists a truly unique, cultural experience.
