Saanich Celebration of the Arts - April 28th

Saanich will be celebrating its 11th annual Community Arts Awareness Week from April 22nd to 28th, 2007. During the weeklong celebration, there will be many exciting events and exhibitions for the entire family to enjoy.
The week of events concludes with the "Saanich Celebration of the Arts" on Saturday, April 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre. Admission is free.
The Celebration of the Arts finale will feature entertainment by local performers, such as the Veselka Ukrainian Dancers, Alma de Espana Flamenco Dancers, Sampaguita Dance Group, Wendy Steen Mitchell School of Dance, City of Gardens Choir, Spilt Milk comedy act, and other local entertainers.
As part of this finale event, there will also be over 50 local artists/artisans at our Arts and Crafts Fair to demonstrate their talents in a wide variety of mediums, from water colours, acrylics and oils to stained glass, weaving, pottery, Chinese brush painting and more! In addition, there will be fun "hands on" art activities for all ages, such as collage making, recycled art, origami paper art, print making, mosaics, face painting and clay play.
Special guest at this year's finale event will be well-known local artist, Barbara Weaver-Bosson.
Other Community Arts Awareness events include Broadmead Studio Arts Tour on April 28th and 29th, Saanich West "Artists in the Country" Studio Tour on May 5th and 6th, Gordon Head Studio Tour also on May 5th and 6th, Goward House Studio on May 5th and 6th, Scattered Artists Studio Tour on May 12th and 13th, Cadboro Bay Studio Tour also on May 12th and 13th, and Gorge-Us Studio Tour on May 26th, and 27th. In addition, don't forget Mother's Day Concert at Playfaire Park on May 13th, a special Art Display at Saanich Municipal Hall from April 23rd to May 11th and Cedar Hill Recreation Centre Gallery Café Art Exhibit from April 2nd to 30th.
